How to Record a Macro in Excel

Untitled Document Microsoft Office has splendid feature called Recording Macro, where you can automate frequently used task. A macro is a series of instructions and commands to perform some task automatically. Follow the below steps to record a macro in excel workbook.

Step 1:

Open the excel workbook where you want to create a record macro. Goto menu bar and click View->Macros as shown in the below picture.

Step 2:

Click the Macros as shown in the above window, a dropdown will appear as shown in the below picture.

Step 3:

Click Record macro from that option, a window will appear as shown in the below picture.

Step 4:

Provide the Macro name which you are going to create and type some shortcut key if you required in that box and click ok to start record macro. Now do whatever you want to automate which repeated task in that excel.

Ste 5:

After completing your task, to stop recording macro go to left bottom of the page as shown in the below picture.

Step 6:

Click that box to stop the macro once completed. It will stop after click. To run a recorded macro from the same excel go to menu bar and click view->Macors->View Macros, a window will appear as shown in the below picture.

Step 7:

Select the macro name and click run to perform your task automatically. Hereafter you can run the macro whenever you want as many time as required.
